Air Texavia is the national airline of Texavia. Based out of Dallas, Air Texavia flies to 130 destinations and has a fleet of 260 aircraft.

History[]

Air Texavia was founded on September 28, 1953. On August 19, 1954, Air Texavia made its maiden flight from Dallas to Houston, with a Douglas DC-6.

In 1982, Air Texavia made a major and potentially a very risky acquisition of the iconic Dallas based Braniff International Airways. This was a risky move because of a combination of the high price of the acquisition and the amount of debt Braniff had collected. However, the acquisition of the airline turned out to be a good move, as Air Texavia was very profitable at the time, and was able to pay off the debt Braniff had obtained.
