Elizabeth Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Elizabeth, Ulimaroa, New Edmund, located in the suburb of East Elizabeth. It was completed in early 2018 and officially opened on 23 March 2018. The stadium has a capacity of over 80,000 people, making it the largest sporting stadium in New Edmund.

Elizabeth Stadium is used for Athetlics and hosts Elizabeth Final Leg of the New Edmund Athletics Grand Prix, hosts AFL New Edmund games throughout the year, Domestic and International Cricket along

Elizabeth Stadium is part of the Elizabeth Olympic Park. The Olympic Park is serperated by the Mack River. Olympic Park West includes offices, Legends Arena, a plaza and a live site. On the other side of the Mack River is the major area named Olympic Park East. In this zone, Elizabeth Stadium is the highlight surroned by the Railway Station, Olympic Park Bus Terminal, Champions Arena, live site and the Food Marquees zone.

The announcement of the Elizabeth  followed a series of earlier proposals for the stadium and sports park including North Elizabeth and the Docklands.

Stadium location[]

In June 2012, the State Government announced that the new stadium and sporting precint would be built along the Mack River in East Elizabeth. This was chosen as it has great access to the CBD and other tourist landmarks. The site at East Elizabeth was choosen as it would allow various different public transport options to travel around the city and to surronding areas.

The Government stated that planning for the new stadium at Elizabeth Olympic Park was due to be completed by late-2017, with construction commencing in 2013 and scheduled for opening in 2018.

Following the Barnett Government's announcement to move the site of the proposed stadium to Burswood, it stated that the stadium would cost around $700 million, with an extra $300 million allocated to public transport works. 

The New Edmund Government agreed to pay 50% of the cost for the stadium. The Olympic Committee of New Edmund agreed to pay 30% of the cost with the remaining cost to be paid by tenant clubs and sponsorship

Opening[]

The first event to be held at the stadium was an AFL Football match between the New Edmund National AFL Team and the Australian All Stars AFL Team. It was officially opened when a community day as held allowing the public to tour the venue and walk onto the track.

Elizabeth Stadium is the first stadium in New Edmund to have a sliding grass pitch. This was made to allow the athletics track to remain throughout the whole year with the sliding grass pitch sliding to the playing level when events like Cricket, and AFL Football are held. The Stadium has 4 layers that slide out. Layer 1 is the Synthetic Athletics Track, Layer 2 is the Soft Rubber to protect players from the Athletics Track, Layer 3 is the Grass Sporting Pitch and Layer 4 is Concert Flooring. Seeting on the lower tier has capabilities to extend seeting closer the the playing field for Rectangular Sports and Athletics so that the fans are closer to the action.

Other sports[]

Elizabeth Stadium is set to hold an International Soccer Match between Chelsea and Barcelona in July in 2018. An American Football Exhibition Game is also set to be hosted at the venue. Elizabeth Stadium is also part of Elizabeth's bid to host the Mapperdonian Winter Olympic Games. Elizabeth Stadium is set to host the Ceremonies while other venues in the Olympic Park will also host other Winter Events both during and in the lead up to the Games shall Elizabeth win the rights to host the games in 2019 or 2020. The Elizabeth Stadium will be the main venue of the 2018 Pan Pacific Games.

Entertainment[]

Elizabeth Stadium is also capable of hosting major concerts and other entertainment events.
