This is now an Inactive Map Game.

KdM Banner

The year is 1700 BCE. The world is one of tribalism and war. However, in some lands there is civilization. The Cradles of Civilization host a world where man can thrive and create empires and gods.

I, Atlasium (TheCreator901), welcome you to Konig des Menschen Chapter II (KdM II). Starting in 1700 BCE, this is an era of civilization of ancient history in which heroes and gods are made. The road to greatness is paved now. Can you become the King of Men?

My Credentials:

The first game I have ever administered was Continent of Darkness: Europe, which was successful until its end. KdM was the second and most successful of my games yet lasting for 27 turns. KdM II is a sequel to the successful map game and hopefully will go on to be more successful!

Join the KdM Thread for updates!

With Alexander's death, the Aegean council ruled the nation from Athens, using the conquered regions to enrich Hellenica, Anatolia, Canaan and Xilup, but left the east to rot, pillaging them for riches. A pretender appeared in Persepolis claiming to be the son of Darius, but had been but an infant when his father died. He declared he would lead the Kiths out of the hold of the greedy Athenians. A significant portion of Aegea is engulfed into civil war, with cities as far as Nineveh declaring themselves part of the new Seleucid Empire. Tens of thousands of Hellenic soldiers were sent to quell the unrest, but they were faced by a coordinated force of 20 000 Seleucids in Akkad. The Hellenics were defeated, but Alexander the Great's son, Alexander IV who'd been trained as a grand strategist by Eudemus, a friend of Alexander. He lead a new wave of troops into central Aegea using Phalanx tactics, which had been used by his father before when he conquered Anatolia. He was able to stop the Seleucids in Adol, where the two main armies clashed and Alexander was victorious. Peace was signed where the Seleucids gained independence and Scythia would become a Seleucid vassal.
  • Diziliyans(To Vesnia): We don't want you in our heartlands, you are welcome to come and trade but not to stay and colonize, if you leave and promise not to return we will refrain from helping Havmark if their deeds spark any conflict

  • Sami: After the Danskans burned several of some of the southern tribes, a council was held where all the main tribes decided to make a second raid, which would be much more destructive, to set an example for all those who came as unwanteds to the north. 4 500 Sami troops assaulted Skelleftanna, driving the Danskans out of the Bothnian gulf

  • Features of Vedena:
    • The masterpiece of ancient urbanism.  Some people may think that the population of cities is too big. But to be fair, the cities in Vedena are not that urban and densely populated. A typical city there has a city centre and little neighbourhoods around it. Usually, every family has a little house and a proper farm to grow their own food. Intelligence lives in the elite neighbourhood close to or in a city centre.
    • Deep city specialization. With the growth of Vedena as an empire, there are lots of different cities. It is becoming more efficient to be specialized in some sphere. For instance, Lutsk is the main political and scientific powerhouse, Pripyat and Kyiv are specialized in trade, Volodymyr is a cultural centre and Shatsk is a fishing centre.

  • Events
    • The Punic War: Romans and the Atlas were rivals for trade and influence in the Mediterranean. A conflict sparked when the Roman navy had a run-in with Atlasi Trade ships. Thinking that the merchant trade ships attacked first, the Roman Republic declared war on Atlas on 241 and fought for more than 20 years. Rome navally invaded coastal Africa (or Algeria) in an attempt to wrestle control over the region. By 230 BC, Rome had successfully blocked Atlas from the sea after thousands of deaths and controlled a portion of Africa.

  • Chrysippus: He defines Stoicism
  • Cleisthenes of Pergamon: He creates the first public school for ages 16-21 in philosophy, mathematics and history in the city of Pergamon

NPC Turns:[]

  • Latins(To Vesnia): only a handful of tribes decide to ally themselves with the Vesnians and oppose Havmark
  • Latins(To Havmark): We see Vesnia trying to threaten you and us, several northern tribes decide to ally themselves with Havmark as they're practically a Latin state by now
  • Diziliyans: They expand on the Bothnian coast
  • Sami: They assimilate small tribes in the Scandinavian peninsula into their culture
  • Havmark: They call their allied tribes to war. In the beginning they encounter massive losses, but they begin to mimic the Vesnian tactics and create their own version of the Flingmasche, they aslo use cavalry to counter the enemy cavalry. The infantry avoid rushing after few battles with the effective use of shields by the enemy. The Havmarkese are unable to stop the Vesnian advance in the south, but Raustadt holds.
  • Latins: With the call to war by Havmark, the Havmarkese tribes annihilate the tribes they see as traitors who supportm Vesnia. Their horde begins a massacre towards Fleischermark and Eustra, burning everything in their path, raping and pillaging. The Vesnians are unable to hold the Latin horde, and lose their southern lands, with Eustra and Fleischermark entering siege.
  • Sambia: They don't answer the Vesnian call of friendship as they fear that other latin tribes would invade them, so they deny outside contact of other civilizations and keep to themselves and their Latin tribal brethren
  • Dacians, Esceocians, Latins: They start looking east towards the collapsing state of Vedena
  • Maya: They annex the rest of the Mayan tribes, and invade Zapotec, but end up in a stalemate. "Peace" is agreed upon but both nations raid each other from time to time
  • Mard: They push northward, taking swathes of Caledoni land, but are stopped in Obar Dheathain, where they run out of manpower and their supplylines are cut. After a decade they make a new push, driving the Picts north, and establishing a front in Tay. They're able to repel all major assaults across the river, suffering minor casualities along the thinner part of Tay. A military coup takes place in Kaledon, where the Northern general of the Mard troops declares independence, because he felt the war was futile and a waste of men with over 10 000 dead in the lowlands and highlands thanks to the conflict. He was forced to do this because the Mard regime wanted Inbhir Nis by greed, not caring a dime for the men who died there for them and against them
  • Polynesians: The Polynesians in Australia assimilate into the Aboriginals
  • Sealand: Celtic pirates raid Harvenborr, Faloth and Rampayr with the Sealand armies fighting the Tireanmead uprising, Karmet and Harkos
  • Proto-Balts: Many of the northern Proto-Balt languages become extremely similar to Ugrian languages due to dense trading and cultural pressure

    • Economy: Based around agriculture, fishing and trading. The first Vesnian script is developed, based on nearby tribes' scripts. • Religion: 99% Vesnian Paganism, 0.74% Proto-Baltic Religions, 0.26% Other
    • Wars and Conflicts (italics: Potential War):
      • War of Havmark/Havmark War/Reclamation of Raustadt:
        • Land Front: Olaf II has noticed the mimicking of our tactics, so new tactics are created. The tactic now used involves hit and run tactics to from Bowmen to avoid their flingmasche attacks so that they waste their ammunition, while other bowmen take out any cavalry from a distance. Other Bowmen and Flingmasche units are to attack their Flingmasche units so that they are consistently attacked to make it harder for them to attack. Shielded infantry with other infantry are to move in for other infantry units. Some Flingmasche are still used to take out groups of units trying to go around our army. When a battle is won, infantry, cavalry and torchmen are to destroy any equipment there (such as their Flingmasches) if needed to prevent them to be used by potential re-inforcements. If not, they are to be taken for our use if they are still functioning and worth taking. Troops are ordered to switch to Distennskrieg tactics if the Havmarkese start using this tactic as well, to throw them off. Armies are sent along with the people who have been taught to Fleischermark and Eustra to hold off the Latins, using guerilla warfare and defending with ranged attacks, holding the Latin hordes off from our walls. The armies then advance, taking advantage over their interest in invading Vedena.
        • Naval Front: Galleys are still harassing the coast, most importantly any of thei ports. While those are harassed, some smaller armies are to navally invade by those ports, crippling their trade and opening a new front where there aren't as many troops. Elbe's "bay" is invaded with galleys, to get naval supremacy in this region of the Baltic Sea and the German coast. Some transport ships are sent down rivers and large enough streams, supporting our land units that are attacked by the Latins by firing arrows at the hordes.
      • Fortification of Bjerholm: Bjerholm (Bornholm) and Heineg are strategically important locations and are thus still fortified a lot with several units guarding them.
      • Guarding of Burgenbrao and Fleischermark: Our two most important cities are still guarded by several troops to ensure that if enemies pass through the battlefront they cannot simply walk right into the cities and take them for themselves.
      • Preparation: The people are taught to fight and be ready, both people in the cities and villages.
    • Military: Total of
      • Spearmen: 1288 (268 without shields)
      • Shortsword and Hatchetmen: 812 (150 without shields)
      • Bowmen: 1095
      • Cavalry: 155

      • 42 trade ships
      • Although not part of the navy we have around 783 fishing ships.
    • Diplomacy:
      • Danska: I know you don't want to join the war, but we could use some help right now, a northern attack from you would surprise Havmark, we can try to hold the Latins off while you advance along with our naval invading units.
      • Sambia: Don't worry, we aren't trying to get you into war, we simply want to make sure that we don't end up in a war against each other.
      • Latins: Disgusting, pillaging, no good pieces of crap! We'll kill all of you!
    • Events:
      • New King: Olaf I Fleischer did pass away, but he resigned some years before his death and Olaf II took to the throne. Olaf I was very old and couldn't command very well and that is why this occurred.
      • Flingmasche Upgrade: The Flingmasche is upgraded to be able to move faster and to carry some more weight.
      • Killing of Havmarkese: Suspicious Havmarkese people in our country are killed under the king's orders due to being afraid that they'll start an internal conflict. The other Havmarkese are viewed with suspicion, but not killed or incarcerated.

    • New King: The old king dies, so his son, Nicolai II Nørgaard takes his place and rises to the throne.
    • Leading System Abandoned: The old system (if the leader has no descendants, the highest noble's family will be the royal family) is abandoned  by Nicolai II Nørgaard, due to the Nørgaard family's long reign. Instead, if the king has no children, the king's brother's children are next in line. If he has no children, it goes up another generation and so on. Since everyone in the entirety of Danska is somehow related to the king, there will always be a leader. Since only a few people abdicate, it is very unlikely that there will be no leader.
    • Defense: We force the troops out of Eustra and Fleischermark, pushing them back near the border.
  • Diplomacy:
    • Havmark: It is time we intervene. We want our old lands back, since you technically stole them from us. You can no longer travel through our lands. I suggest you surrender, since you're being attacked on both sides.

Latin language in the region itself is extinct but names and ethnicity still lives on in pockets. Explanation for nobility is that Latins were employed in elite units that were held in high regard and retired veterans commonly built a nobility status. They were absorbed into the Roman identity, but they make up a lot of the ruling class since their overthrow of the monarchy

Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt[]

KDM Egypt
  • Government
    • King: Assuming they go the same way it goes with our timeline.
      • Ptolemy III Euergetes (246 BC-221 BC)
      • Ptolemy IV Philopator (221-203 BC)
      • Ptolemy V Epiphanes (203 BC-present)
  • Military: Most of the elite army are Hellenic, but due to a severe shortage of manpower in the region (since the Ptolemaic dynasty is essentially Greek itself) and sheer distance from Greece to Egypt, the dynasty resorts to establish military colonies to encourage immigrants (or settlers as they are more commonly known) to settle there and increase manpower. However there were attempts to integrate the native population into military through slowed assimilation, although the majority refuse to become officially Hellenic and this largely failed as well due to attempts to bring order, thus manpower remains on severe shortage.
    • 10,000 phalanxes
    • 5,000 other soldiers
  • Economy: The Nile is used for trading locally, while outside domestic affairs, the Mediterranean Sea is used instead. Coins are also minted in Egypt.

  • Events
    • Integration of Cyrene: Moves to integrate the vassal state of Cyrene are underway while the whole kingdom is currently being stabilised through means of force against an ethnic group that is mainly Egyptian in order to maintain Hellenic/Aegean influence (I'd rather call it Hellenic) across Egypt, which is changing the lower class over the course of years.

    • Transport: 200
  • Diplomacy: We became even more diplomatically and trade isolated, our trade size has fallen slightly.
  • Events:
    • Mediterranean culture:  Our country was almost isolated in terms of culture, but last time ancient culture and lifestyle have become very popular, especially in cultured people. Some people wish to transform Vedena into a modern country like Greece or Rome.
    • Revolts: Lots of people around the country aren't satisfied with the current situation. They want changes and some revolts occurred. They were suppressed, but people still dislike current government.
  • Features of Vedena:
    • Dark age of Vedena: after big raids of Bonra hordes, our lands are devastated and our economy has recessed. Currently, it is falling hard. Many great minds think that it is the start of the great fall of an old empire.

Turn XXX: 200-175 BCE[]

Events & Great People:[]

  • Plautus: The first great comedy playwright makes his career in Rome
  • Erastosthenes: He is the first person to calculate the circumference of earth, and it was almost accurate, his work is dismissed but documented in Alexandria
  • Drakon (of Tessalonika): Inspired by the feuds between kings and princes writes the first great dramas in Athens, sometimes taking hints of Erastosthenes’ comedy into his acts

NPC Turns:[]

  • Latins: Even with the new tactics adapted by the Vesnians the sheer numbers of the Latins overwhelm the Vesnians. They pillage Eustra and Fleischermark, and move towards Burgenbrao, halting roughly 100 km east and south of the city, making outposts and defensive structures there. The Western Latins see the ripe lands of western Havmark and invade, assimilating their Latin brethren who’d joined Havmark.
  • Sambia: They agree to become friends with Vesnia, but after the collapse of Eustra they end all relations
  • Mard: They’re able to quell the military revolt in the north by assassinating the mutinous general. The new general leads an assault taking Obar Dheathain, and continuing a wee bit further north. In central Mard, the Nordicite invasion of Hull became a brutal naval battle, which the Mard lost, but the remaining fleet was incapable of sieging Hull, and were forced to retreat(edited)
  • Picts: they become their own culture group, and take over the Mardian assault, flooding them with massive numbers, with no more men to send to the slaughter, the Mardian northern front collapses and the Pict advance is stopped halfway to Hull
  • Faroe: Resentment towards the three motherlands in the south and east is growing and an idea of a unified Faroe led by the Faroese, and not by the far away motherlands
  • Seleucids: They conquer westward, annexing Aegean lands as far as Hattusa. They also attack Arashena, destroying their main army and asserting a vassal king. Their eastern front is failing but they’re able to stop the Mayruans in Hecatompylus
  • Mayruans: they advance into Seleucid lands but are stopped in Hecatompylus
  • Havmark: The kingdom collapses, their lands being taken by the Latins(taking the majority of the land, grabbing the west and the south), Danska taking a tiny bit from the northwest and Vesnia taking most of the east
  • Meroe: They invade African Suraban, taking it entirely
  • Ainu: They assimilate the few tribes in Kamchatka
  • Kioku: Several smaller tribes in Honshu swear fealty to the emperor of Kioku
  • Atlas (since creator is gone for so long and need a response): The population (and soldiers) slowly starved due to the Roman blockade and siege of the countryside for decades. Unable to hold off Roman incursions, Atlas lost their coastlines to Rome.
  • Valencia: They decline the offer to fight Carcaros as they’re trying to mend relations

Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt (Αιγυπτος)[]

  • Government
    • King:
      • Ptolemy V Epiphanes (203 BC-180 BC)
      • Ptolemy VI Philometor (180 BC-present) (joint with his mother as of 175 BC)
  • Military: Most of the elite army are Hellenic, but due to a severe shortage of manpower in the region of Greeks and sheer distance from Greece to Egypt, the dynasty resorts to establish military colonies to encourage immigrants to settle and increase manpower of the elite. However there were attempts to integrate the native population into military through slowed assimilation, although the majority refuse to become officially Hellenic and this largely failed as well due to attempts to bring order, thus manpower remains on severe shortage.
    • 11,000 phalanxes
    • 5,000 other soldiers
  • Economy: The Nile is used for trading locally, while outside domestic affairs, the Mediterranean Sea is used instead. Coins are also minted in Egypt.
  • Demographics
    • Population: 4,000,000

    • Literacy rate: 17%
  • Events
    • Annexation of Cyrene (196 BC): Cyrene (as a vassal) is annexed into Egypt on 196 BC. The Jewish population is also integrated as well, which now comprises 80,000 out of four million in the latest census record.
    • Nubian Slave Uprising (178 BC): As a result of unsatisfactory requirements for most slaves and Egyptians in general, a slave uprising occurred in the southern part of Egypt. Led by a former slave turned warrior named Kawashu, he had amassed 8,000 slaves to freedom and plundering multiple southern villages of Egypt leading to Ptolemy VI (who was six) and his mother Cleopatra I Syra jointly agreed to send in 6,000 phalanxes to get them back working again. This weakened Egypt slightly but serves as a warning for any slave to rebel.
    • Threat of Seleucids (170s BC): With what's left of General Seleucus' empire expanding rapidly in early 3rd century BC, many Egyptian generals (mainly Hellenic) have asked the King and Cleopatra I Syra to conscript at least 30,000 native Egyptians to fight against the Seleucid threat. They approved such conscription but this is only effective if a war between the Seleucids and Egypt actually happens, insisting that training with the elite army are more important against a Seleucid army than conscripting local men who are likely to be disobedient.

Kingdom of Natick[]

  • Government: Tribal Monarchy
    • Kings (Wampanoagan Dynasty):

  • Wars and Conflicts: None for now.
  • Diplomacy:
    • Monahtanuk: We are the great neighbour friends! We shall live in peace. Anyway, I offer you trade alliance.
  • Event: At the end of 176 BC the Great Hunting has started! Animals in Natickan forests are getting angered by the people for killing them to get some food and furs. At the same time some wolves from Amaiqac lands killed over 10 border guards, so we have to recruit 10 more mercenaries to defend our northern borders. King Naupanoit II started to use the half amount of archers in defending borders due to sudden wolves attacks.
  • Military: We are gonna prepare for any possible war/conflict with western tribes.
    • Spearmen: 600
    • Slingers: 700
    • Archers: 800
    • Swordsmen: 400

Vesnia[]

    • King: Olaf II Fleischer (B 267 BCE D 186 BCE) (R 230 BCE - 186 BCE), Olaf III Fleischer (B 202 BCE, still alive) (R 186 BCE - Present)
    • Economy: Based around agriculture, fishing and trading. The first Vesnian script is developed, based on nearby tribes' scripts. Trade with cultures like Latins, Proto-Balts, Ugrians (and countries of Nordicium and Danska) is helping the economy. Currently it's under pressure, due to war and being overwhelmed by latin hordes.
    • Capital: Burgenbrao
    • Demographics:
      • Population:
      • Burgenbrao: 49,505
      • Fleischermark: ~15,500 (pillaged and occupied)
      • Raustadt: 4876
      • Eustra: ~3000 (pillaged and occupied)
      • Heineg: 2710
      • Rural areas (AKA everything else): ~106,045

      • Religion: 99% Vesnian Paganism, 0.74% Proto-Baltic Religions, 0.26% Other
    • Wars and Conflicts (italics: Potential War):
      • Latin Horde War (Continuation of Havmark War):
        • Land Front: As Havmark has been finished, almost all units are ordered to go to the front with the Latins as we are in dire times, any that are left are to guard Raustadt, kill off any attempt from Havmarkese to revolt and report in case of Latin hordes incoming. All units attacking are actually morely supposed to defend, using Distennskrieg to attack, taking advantage of the Latins' inferior technology due to being a culture group and not a nation. We try to overpower them with numbers as well, as emergency conscription is commenced due to the fall of Eustra and Fleischermark. Bowmen are used to take out dangerous units such as rushing cavalry if they have any and their own archers. Flingmasche units are used to destroy their defensive structures and take out their large grouped up hordes attacking us. Once the attackers have been thwarted, a swift counterattack is ordered.
        • Occupied Cities and Villages: The Vesnian people who have been raped and pillaged rise up and fight with their every will to keep the Latins busy with settlements, helping once actual armies rush in to liberate them.
        • Naval Front: Galleys are used in the river-tactics again and any navally invading units are relocated to Vesnia to get ready to fight the Latin savages.
      • Fortification of Bjerholm: Bjerholm (Bornholm) and Heineg are strategically important locations and are thus still fortified a lot with several units guarding them.
      • Guarding of Burgenbrao and Raustadt: Fleischermark has fallen, not good. Raustadt is guarded a lot so that it doesn't fall next. Same occurs with Burgenbrao, as it is our capital and most important city.
      • Preparation: The people continue to be taught to fight and be ready, both people in the cities and villages.
      • Emergency Conscription: After the fall of Eustra and Fleischermark, this is enacted to try and get as many units as possible to fight off the enemy.
    • Military (Emergency Conscription): Total of
      • Spearmen: 1633 (314 without shields)
      • Shortsword and Hatchetmen: 966 (204 without shields)
      • Bowmen: 1391
      • Cavalry: 233
      • Torchmen (they burn up tents and stuff after the main invasion but do also have daggers if someone attacks them): 135
      • Flingmasche (prim. catapult): 277
      • Naval Watchmen: 170
    • Navy:
      • 122 transport ships (can hold around 10-15 men)

      • 55 galleys
      • 45 trade ships
      • Although not part of the navy we have 805 fishing ships.
    • Diplomacy:
      • Danska: We have to team up to stop the Latin hordes!
      • Latins: You can have southern lands (not Fleischermark or Eustra though) if we make peace, we even gave you the chance to have them given to you if you helped us against Havmark instead of helping them.
    • Events:
      • Support by Boat: The Latins may be strong, but they are weak navally. Using our naval superiority, Vesnia and Danska use ships to ship off war supplies to each other, supporting each other.
      • Production: Almost all production is focused on war equipment, even unemployed people jon in to help the war effort.
      • Killing of Havmarkese: After Havmark was defeated, all Havmarkese people left in our nation were executed.

      • Coastal Defense: The remaining 285 troops will defend the coast of our country.
      • Bebers Defense Line: We put 286 troops on the border with Berbers because they might attack any moment.

      • Galacia: We ask them to surrender, (we promise we wont do their citzens any harm)
    • Events:
      • Trade: We ask Valencia if they wanna have trade affairs with us.
      • Army changes: The army will from now on be 6% of Agousta's population. (11,742 currently) (if too much i can lower it) it will not count this round.

Roman Republic[]

    • Government:
      • Consuls:
        • (49) Gaius Creliores Beto (203 BC to 196 BC)
        • (50) Cato Felix Maxim(196 BC to 188 BC)
        • (51) Lucius Salernus Acadius (188 to 178 BC)
        • (52) Rufio Gallus (178 BC to present)
      • Policies: Seeing as Rome basically controls all relevant land of Atlas, the declared annexation of Atlas and the Punic War coming to an end after many decades of warfare. Following the annexation of Atlas, Atlasii became the majority of the Empire. It is dangerous but assimilation is well underway so long as Atlas populous were treated well, according to the Romans.
    • Military: There is approximately 15 legions, each contains 5000 to 6000 legionaries each further divided into cohorts with 500 to 600 men each. There are about 10 auxiliary legions as well (3,000 each) also containing equipment like archers and artillery. The number of legions remained the same after the Punic War.
      • 80,000 Legionaries
      • 30,000 Auxiliaries
    • Economy: Gold and silver coins are minted around the Republic, with a new coin minted for every new Consul.
    • Demographics (I probably have to modify some cities since I don't have syracuse anymore)
      • Population: 8,000,000

        • Other cities: 3,000,000
        • Rural areas: 4,100,000
      • Ethnicity: Remaining latins in the region are exceptionally rare over the past centuries and were held in high regard within the tribal population, sometimes ruling as the regional nobility class. Latin language in the region itself is extinct but names and ethnicity still lives on in pockets. Explanation for nobility is that Latins were employed in elite units that were held in high regard and retired veterans commonly built a nobility status. They were absorbed into the Roman identity, but they make up a lot of the ruling class since their overthrow of the monarchy.
        • 42% Roman, 50% Atlasii, 8% other.
      • Religion: 80% Cult of Romulus, 20% Other

    • Events
      • Annexation of Baleria (187 BC): Hearing rumors of war on the resource rich Iberan peninsula, the Romans sent an expedition to the west in 190 BC. Rufio Gallus (the leader of the expedition of the time) became the first official Roman to set foot on the Balerian Isles. Unbeknownst to him, the island was populated at the time. After an encounter with the Balerian locals, who did not take too kindly to Romans, they decided to leave to set sail further westward. When the Romans left the island, they were attacked by pirates off the coast of Baleria. Rufio Gallus, who was one of the 12 survivors, managed to land off the North African coast in 188 BC after roughly 2 years of exploration and survival. Rufio Gallus (now as part of a survivor group of 6) told their stories that they were attacked by Balerians (Balerian Pirates, not technically local Balerians but Gallus doesn't know that.) off the coast. Angered by this, the Romans sent 3 legions to the island, and demanded the populace to submit. Realizing that rumors of more land were further west. the Romans realized that they needed the islands and decided to try to annex it. Rufio Gallus retired to politics in 186 BC, becoming consul 8 years later.
        KdMmap2
      • Incursion onto Carcaros (177 BC): Expeditions to Iberian peninsula went on for another decade. Upon election of Rufio Gallus as Consul, the Romans began to understand the peninsula. However, their encounter with Carcaros was supposedly not friendly. As they, in the past, had invaded Valencia (a kingdom that was considered friendly to the Romans from time to time). Carcaros, according to reports, were a bunch of tribes with swathes of unclaimed "no man's land" in between each. Seeking glory of his own, Gallus sent volunteers of colonists, assisted by 6 legions, to Carcaros. Hoping to settle Romans there and exploit resources.
    • Diplomacy:
      • Baleria: We shall annex you, Baleria. We need you.
      • Carcaros: I suppose we should join in on the action against you.

Turn XXXI: 175-150 BCE[]

Events & Great People:[]

  • Cato: The Roman author writes the first proses in Latin, defining the Latin language as the literary language in Rome
  • Hero: He invents many automated items in Alexandria, Aegypt. Such as the first vending machine, steam engine, automated doors(using fire), wind-powered organ, the first fully automated play. He also wrote many books such as Automata, Pneumatica, Mechanica and more. He also creates the Heron's Formula of how to calculate the surface-area of a triangle.(edited)
  • Paper: Paper is invented in the Yang dynasty
  • Great Winter: As multiple cold spells hit northern lands, affecting every nation and people above the Rhine. Successive winters make it hard for farming to thrive, and as a result, uncountable lives were lost. The effects are worse for nations in the Scandinavian region, as colds become more severe, temperatures inland reached freezing levels and the Gulf Stream is only sufficient to keep the coastal areas by the Norwegian Sea warm. • Atlas: The Roman invasion fails, with their invading fleet being swept away by a storm. The survivors who still attempted to make a landing and invasion were killed on the shores of Aetefyre
  • Carcaros: They attempt to hold their front against the Romans, but with the invasions in the west by Agousta begin quickly withering their army and morale. The fall of Carcalonar is a devastating blow, but 2 000 soldiers still fled the city and attempt to held the eastern front
  • Galatia: They nearly collapse under the first Agoustan invasion, only a handful of soldiers are left protecting some border cities on the coast

Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt[]

  • Government
    • Kings:
      • Ptolemy VI Philometor (180 BC-present)
  • Military: Most of the elite army are Hellenic, but due to a severe shortage of manpower in the region of Greeks and sheer distance from Greece to Egypt, the dynasty resorts to establish military colonies to encourage immigrants to settle and increase manpower of the elite. However there were attempts to integrate the native population into military through slowed assimilation, although the majority refuse to become officially Hellenic and this largely failed as well due to attempts to bring order, thus manpower remains on severe shortage.

      • 88% Egyptian paganism, 3% Hellenism, 2% Judaism, 7% other
    • Literacy rate: 17%
  • Events
    • Invasion of Judea (aka Canaan Kingdom): Egypt invades Canaan in 174 BC in a swift manner and out of nowhere by a growing king who is extremely hedonistic. This is the first time conscription was enforced onto native Egyptians. All of Canaan capitulates by the end of 150 BC and is annexed into Egypt and shows that they still exert a lot of influence over a majority of the Hellenistic world. Maratas is razed to the ground sometime in late 150 BC (that means the city MUST be erased from the map), with all of the population being expelled out and moved into other places. (This is my first rant since the Daevites)
    • Jewish Rebellion: In retaliation, in the city of Ptolemais in Cyrene, Jews decide to rebel as Egypt's corruption began to substantially increase after post-regency of Ptolemy VI on 153 BC over plans to raze multiple cities and create a semi-perfectionist image of his own lands. However they are quickly suppressed within two years but things will get worse.

Nipmuck people started migration to territories around Cape Cod Bay due to aggresive wolves in their lands. Naupanoit II leads the whole army of 400 archers, 500 slingers and 50 border guards (others do not participate in the Hunting because they are in reserve) but the Hunting does not look succesful. In 170 BC Naupanoit II dies and the new king Wamsasoit IV used the reserve troops because they lost over 70% our troops there. Then, they won many battles against angry wolves but in 165 BC, during the last battle, one of wolves hit king's chest and he died after 100 days, in January 164 BC. However, the last wolves surrendered and moved out to the far north. During other 15 years, people from the eastern villages started migration to empty villages in the former Nipmuck territories of north... Until they encountered Amaiqac tribes.

In Norse mythology, the Fimbulvitr is the preceding event of Ragnarok, leading to parts of the populace fearing that the Nordicite realm might come to an end. Fear and discontent rises, while hope falls. The Nordicite government is expected to provide a solution.

    • The City Must Survive: Heating facilities are built up and lumberjacks are mass employed to keep the cities heated, especially in Bergen, our capital. The Gulf Stream, which most of our settlements lie along, helps this to be slightly less difficult, however, there's still much to be done if the city (and the nation) was to survive.

They also invade the Seleucids in an effort to get a border with Aegea, but they only get as far as Hecatompylus, where they're stopped by the defenders, two months later a larger army with siege machines arrives and they destroy the defenses of Hecatompylus, and the city falls in three weeks. A counter-assault by the Seleucids arrives two weeks after the fall of the city and the two armies engage in a fatal encounter, where thousands die on both sides. Both commanders agree to stop the war in the north and agree to peace. The Seleucid commanders in the south are more victorius but the piece is signed during their siege of Patalena, where the siege had already lasted for a month, but the defenders were able to supply themselves by a route in the east which they hadn't been able to take.

Unlike most of his own ancestors above, he wanted to bridge gaps with the native Egyptians and potentially assimilate them through talks. Thus his own policy of both teaching the Greeks and Egyptians with the opposite languages began, but he refuses to let both adopt these opposite cultures.
  • Military: Most of the elite army are Hellenic, but due to a severe shortage of manpower in the region of Greeks and sheer distance from Greece to Egypt, the dynasty resorts to establish military colonies to encourage immigrants to settle and increase manpower of the elite. Conscription was already attempted and was successful during the conquest of the Canaan Kingdom, but all of the conscripts are relieved from their duty in fear that military training would lead them to become better soldiers against the kingdom.

    • 85 triremes.
    • 35 galleys.
    • 900 sailors
  • Diplomacy:
  • Wars and Conflicts:
    • Danskan Reclamation War: We raised an army, and together with the existing Danskan army, we perform several skirmish attacks on the Latin tribes, using the winter and the Nordicite army's cold-fighting experience to push forward, aiming to get to Ebsjerg, the former capital of Danska.
  • Disasters:
    • Fimbulvitr: The Great Winter (or Fimbulvitr) struck the nation with successive cold spells, and every state of the north. Predictions show that the cold may get worse, proving difficulty to all northern nations alike. Crops perished, animals are left to dead, and more and more people succumb to frostbite. In Norse mythology, the Fimbulvitr is the preceding event of Ragnarok, leading to parts of the populace fearing that the Nordicite realm might come to an end. Fear and discontent rises, while hope falls. The Nordicite government is expected to provide a solution.
    • The Path of Faith: The Norse religion became a way to sustain faith and hope in the populace (despite the fact that it ironically causes loss of hope in the first place). Shrines are built across the coastal settlements and worships become a common occurence.
  • Events
    • The Nation Must Survive: We given up control of more lands in the Jotunheimen mountains in order to focus more resources to develop the coastal settlements and keep people from the cold.
    • The City Must Survive: Heating facilities are built up and lumberjacks are mass employed to keep the cities heated, especially in Bergen, our capital. The Gulf Stream, which most of our settlements lie along, helps this to be slightly less difficult, however, there's still much to be done if the city (and the nation) was to survive

Roman Republic []

  • Government:
    • Consuls:
      • (56) Brutus Maximus Fulso (152 BC to 140 BC)
      • (57) Orbanus Victus (140 BC to 136 BC)
      • (58) Romali Illeniumus (136 BC to 130 BC)
      • (59) Gaulus Invictus Maximus (130 BC to 126 BC)
      • (60) Vetus Betum Bellus (126 BC to present)
    • Policies:

    •
  • Military: There is approximately 18 legions, each contains 5000 to 6000 legionaries each further divided into cohorts with 500 to 600 men each. There are about 10 auxiliary legions as well (3,000 each) also containing equipment like archers and artillery. The number of legions remained the same after the Punic War.
    • 95,000 Legionaries
    • 30,000 Auxiliaries
  • Economy: Gold and silver coins are minted around the Republic, with a new coin minted for every new Consul.
  • Demographics
    • Population: +9,000,000
      • Rome (Capital): 150,000
      • Neapolis: 50,000

      • Atvasium: 100,000 (indirect)
      • Other cities: 1,180,000
      • Rural areas: 7,500,000
    • Ethnicity: Remaining latins in the region are exceptionally rare over the past centuries and were held in high regard within the tribal population, sometimes ruling as the regional nobility class. Latin language in the region itself is extinct but names and ethnicity still lives on in pockets. Explanation for nobility is that Latins were employed in elite units that were held in high regard and retired veterans commonly built a nobility status. They were absorbed into the Roman identity, but they make up a lot of the ruling class since their overthrow of the monarchy.
      • 42% Roman, 50% Atlasii (disputed), 8% other.

  • Events
    • Roman Colonization of South Western Gaul (149 BC) : Seeing the dangers of Roman exclaves, 4 Roman legions of the original 6 in Southern Gaul were dispatched westward to try to connect the exclave with the rest of the mainland
    • Roman-Hellenic Conflicts (137 BC): Roman Consul Orbanus Victus had not forgotten the Hellenic take over of Sicily. He had read in history books that the issue of the takeover was largely dropped since it was overshadowed by other issues at the time. However, the effects of the takeover had been noticeable in an economic stance. Willing to get revenge for the fall of Sicily, the Romans dispatched 9 legions (~50,000 men) and 6 Auxiliary Legions (~18,000 men) into the Aegean mainland. Seeing Spartans has proposed a possible alliance with Aegeans and were likely to join the war on their side. So the Romans sent a blockade around the peninsula. The Romans started an invasion of Epirus via navy. During the "Battle of Epirus", the Romans has lost 1 legion (6,000 men) to the Aegean army (hopilites?). But young general Vetus Betum Bellus quickly figured a new flanking strategy against the Greeks. The Battle of Epirus has won in 136 BC, allowing Roman occupation of most of the region. But the war is not over yet. In 133 BC, the Romans sent 3 legions to Macedonia for a takeover, followed by a campaign southward from Epirus (such as Thessaly and Central Greece) to reach the Spartan borders in 129 BC. In 125 BC, the Romans sent 5 legions to Thrace after securing central Greece (and other lands). The Romans also used part of the blockade of Sparta to blockade the sea between modern Greece and Anatolia to try to cut of the Aegeans.
  • Diplomacy:
    • Seleucids: We would like to form a co-operative alliance, seeing your history with the Aegeans. We shall agree for you to only take lands no further into Anatolia.
    • Gaul: Any friendly tribes are welcome to join us peacefully, but we shall take South-Western Gaul to connect our realms.
    • Sparta: We wish for you to stay out of this war and we may end the blockade so long as you don't aid Aegeans.
    • Aegeans: We demand surrender and hand over of all Balkan lands and Sicily.

Aegean Empire

  • Government:
    • System: Parliamentary democratic consulate
      • Consuls:
        • Xenokles (161 BC - 135 BC)
        • Aristeas (135 BC - 128 BC)
        • Eulalos (128 BC - present)
    • Population: 11,500,000
      • Ipsus: 1,200,000
      • Tarsus: 900,000
      • Athens: 560,000
      • Ottozul: 450,000
      • Other: 8,390,000
  • Primary Events:
    • Roman-Hellenic War: Although losing the fight in Epirus and retreating orderly, fortifications have been made across the primary cities of Athens and Ipsus, as well as the more coastal cities such as Tarsus. Defended by upwards to 825,000 soldiers each, the legions of Aegean soldiers attack the invading Roman troops of 137 BC, easily outnumbering and brutally murdering them. The victory is secured in Macedonia, with casualties estimated to be ~75,000 though. The troops are divided from the group after learning of the Roman invasion of Thessaly, Central Greece, and Thrace, and like the Battle in Macedonia, another victory is secured due primarily to overwhelming strength and strategic tactics with the use of the geography. The blockade throughout the main region against the Aegean is effectively defeated after the positioning and movement of the entire Aegean navy. Although securing a large portion of the territory they had invaded, a peace treaty is offered (in accordance with the new map). If accepted, a 50 year NAP will follow.
      Screenshot 2018-05-28 at 8.17
Hellenic-Persian War: Using the geography as a means of building strategic fortifications, defensives against the Persians are successful, to the point where casualties for the Persians remain tactically high and low for the Aegean Hellenic's. With this, 45,000 troops are moved into the occupied portion of Hattusa in 129 BC, and soon victory is achieved after defeating the small and underwhelming force featured. With this, the march to Allepo with the remaining 39,000 troops from the victory in Hattusa proves fruitful by 126 BC, and soon the cities of Aleppo, Carchemish, and Antioch are successfully occupied. By 125 BC, a peace treaty is offered with the Seleucid Empire (in accordance with the new map). If accepted, a 50 Year NAP is to be followed.
    • Expansion: The state of war in the Aegean Empire has been responded to by the movement of settlers under the Aegean Empire into the neighboring nomadic tribes of the Gerios and the Illyrics, expanding from the south up.
    • Diplomacy to Sparta: Due to the acts of the Romans blockading the Spartans, we suggest an immediate declaration of war against the Romans.

Turn XXXIII: 125-100 BCE[]

Events & Great People:[]

  • Zhang Qian: He spends several years in Central Asia exploring the region and its inhabitants. He is the first to bring back reliable information from the West to the Yang dynasty. His travels are the foundation of the Silk Road
  • Gaius Lucilius: A famed Roman satirist writes many plays and stories of politics in a satirical way, which amuses thousands, gaining him the favour of the Roman council and the people
  • Great Winter: The harsh winters are finally over, but their damage was long lasting, with over 30 000 dead due to starvation or frostbite

NPC Turns:[]

  • Sparta(To Aegypt): Yes, it would be more of alliance than a union, we would all be equal in it and keep our sovereigns
  • Sparta(To Rome): You insult us with your blockade! It's a disgrace, we shall not stand idle in front of your actions
  • Uputhara Wansura(To Muscat): We would be grateful to bask in the luxuries and knowledge of the west, we shall send traders ASAP
  • Aynarab(To Muscat): We appreciate your decision, may our peoples prosper
  • Southern Abenaki Tribes(To Natick): We agree, peace would be preferable
  • Korean Tribes(To Gojoseon): We do appreciate a great power like yourself, but we like our sovereignty, our freedom, so no, we won't join your empire
  • Seleucids(To Rome): We find your proposition fascinating, and we accept, the arrogant Hellenics are a menace to the world
  • Aegea(To Rome & Seleucids): You dare assault the Hellenics?! By the might of Zeus we shall make your empires crumble to dust, the wind will blow away your greedy ashes
  • Sparta: They're able to defeat most of the Roman blockade fleet and drive them away from Hellenia, but suffer many losses. They also attempt an invasion of the Roman mainland, taking on the city of Tarentum and Syracuse, causing severe damage to the cities and their ports
  • Seleucids: They lead an incursion into east Aegea, crashing down on the most heavily defended area in the world at the time. 20 000 Seleucids march towards Morpha, where the city crumbles within days. a week later the Seleucid main army had grown to the strength of 50 000, who marched into Assur and Nineveh. The 17 000 Aegean soldiers were no match for the Seleucids, but the losses were tremendous. 23 000 dead, but the cities captured. What was left of the army marched to Mari, sieging it for 5 weeks until the city and it's defenders gave up. the main army, reinforced once again assaulted Adol with the might of the king and 42 000 men. With fierce fightings east of the city for three days, with the defending 37 000 Aegeans crushing the invasion finally. 28 000 Aegeans had died, and 31 000 Seleucids had died, including their king.
  • Aegea: With the Seleucids defeaten in Adol, they gathered an army and marched into Nineveh where they recaptured the city, and with great effort reclaimed Assur, making a new defensive line there. The Roman attempt of blocking ships in the Aegean fails miserably with the Aegean naval superiority showing it's might. The Aegeans who were still stuck with the tactics of Alexander believing them to be the best, were dazzled by the Roman flanking attacks and lose much of their hold in Europe, losing Tessalonika and Abdera, but the Hellenic homeland is able to be defended by the 23 000 Hoplites, awaiting reinforcements from Anatolia. Sicily is lost in weeks and no aid was able to be brought to them
  • Latins: They lose Ebsbjerg, but drive away the Nordicite invaders and burn the city down to avoid it getting taken again. The Nordicite push was quite successful, until a new tribal convention agreed upon a new horde and the thousands of soldiers crushed the Nordicite assault, pushing them from mainland Europe
  • The Hellenic League: An alliance between Sparta and Aegea is formed, Egypt was invited as well and Bactria wants to become a part of the League. They're not allowed to join unless they have a land route to Aegea or Egypt.
  • Scythia: They prepare a horde, and invade Bactria, quickly overrunning Hecatompylus, Alexandria Herat and Alexandria Furthest.
  • Yang: Emperor Han dreamt of a unified east Asia, and set out on a campaign against Xia, where he led 30 000 soldiers down the coast capturing each city and river. It was a brutal blood brawl but the yang emerged victorious and annexed most of mainland Xia down to Zhangzou, but the Xia navy was able to keep the city of Taipei under the Xia dynasty. Fueled by the success, emperor Han led many campaigns to claim the western tribes, annexing the Ma, Tai, Yunan and some of the Ganton territories and with the information provided by Zhang Qian the Yang empire expands into Dongbu and Betmant territories as well, setting up new trading posts for the silk road
  • Seleucids: They accept the Roman offer for a co-operative alliance.
  • Bactria: They are able to stop the Scythian invasion in Kashmir, but the southern front is failing, but soldiers are sent in by the thousands to reinforce the region. If Alexandria Kandahar fell, it'd mean the fall of Nicaea as well
  • Gauls: The southern tribes agree upon a council where they decide to raid the Roman claimed lands after their quick annexation of the Pyrenese Gaul tribes. The tribal invasion is cut down by the Roman defenders in Nimer, but almost everything north of Nimer has been pillaged
  • Guarani: They develop in South America
  • Khoisan: They develop in South Africa

Egypt[]

  • Government
    • Ptolemy VII Acaeus (126 BC-104 BC)
    • Cleopatra (wtf why so early?) (104 BC-present)
  • Military: Most of the elite army are Hellenic, but due to a severe shortage of manpower in the region of Greeks and sheer distance from Greece to Egypt, the dynasty resorts to establish military colonies to encourage immigrants to settle and increase manpower of the elite. Conscription was already attempted and was successful during the conquest of the Canaan Kingdom, but all of the conscripts are relieved from their duty in fear that military training would lead them to become better soldiers against the kingdom. But it is expected that conscription would come back again as soon as Roman expansion began to heavily threaten the integrity of the Hellenistic world.

This would also be a tedious trial as well.

Roman Republic[]

  • Government:
    • Consuls:
      • (60) Vetus Betum Bellus (126 BC to 110 BC)
      • (61) Marius Pilus Vetonus (110 BC BC to present)
    • Policies:
    • Marian Reforms: Under Consul Marius, the Roman Legions recieved a complete restructure after the start of the  Roman-Hellenic conflicts to solve and improve the Legions on flexibility and adaptability along with equipment. Proletarianisation of the army is already underway to quickly refill lost numbers. The state would also issue standard equipment to all but the veterans (who would be able to afford their own at this time). The navy, after suffering numerous defeats at sea, began to look into Greek tactics and shipbuilding in order to improve their navy.
  • Military: There is approximately 20 legions, each contains 5000 to 6000 legionaries each further divided into cohorts with 500 to 600 men each. There are about 10 auxiliary legions as well (3,000 each) also containing equipment like archers and artillery. The number of legions remained the same after the Punic War.
    • 106,000 Legionaries
    • 30,000 Auxiliaries
  • Economy: Gold and silver coins are minted around the Republic, with a new coin minted for every new Consul.

  • Events
    • (continued, lets hurry this along) Roman-Hellenic Conflicts (137 BC): Upon many victories, there was also failures. Being adaptable, the Romans started to take the best of every culture and combine it to their societies. The Greeks during the Roman-Hellenic Conflicts were no different. Under Marian Reforms, the Roman Army improved themselves to reduce losses from records of previous battles and adopting tactics, equipment, and formations based upon which is most efficient for the time and area. Not to mention their frequent losses at sea had allowed the Romans to learn Aegean ship building via reverse engineering. The Romans, with their more powerful navy, set out to blockade between the Balkans and Anatolia. Meanwhile on land, the newly improved Romans sent 5 legions from Italy to invade Sparta by the sea (totalling 13 legions in Greece). Unfortuately, a third of the legions were wiped out before they gained a good foothold onto the land by Spartan valiance. But after breaking Spartan lines, they swept across the region in an attempt to make a swift occupation from the south-west peloponesia (or however you spell it) all the way to (OTL) Athens. 2 Roman Legions stationed in Macedonia were also sent south again to attempt to take Thebes and Athens (and to meet with friendlies that was sweeping across Sparta). 4 Roman Legions were sent to take coastal cities off of Anatolia with assistance from the invigorated Roman navy, who managed to win and secure the sea once again. While 2 Legions were sent to capture Thrace as well.
  • Diplomacy:
    • Gaul: Any friendly tribes are welcome to join us peacefully, but we shall take more of Gaul for our realms.
    • Sparta: Your surrender and/or annexation will be nice.
    • Aegeans: We demand surrender and hand over of all Sicily, Balkan lands, and Coastal Anatolia (all the way to ipsus).

NPC Turns:[]

  • Yang: They roll through the remaining Xia lands with a massive army of 80 000 men, then continue their campaing eastward annexing the last Ganton tribes, along with the island of Hainan. The army then assaults Au Lac, capturing the northern part of the nation and setting up a heavy defense and building a great wall which stretched from the sea to the border with the Khmers and then a bit north, being named the Wall of Yu. On the way north Emperor Yu ordered assaults on the Burnie people and annexed some of their land. A decade later he led a campaign into the Dongbu territories, who had been rebellious and several raids had occured, the region was annexed. With all the great powers near them in the west defeated, the eyes of Emperor Yu turned north, where the grand Daevite confederation laid. He ordered over 70 different small armies backed by larger armies to advance on North into the Daevite lands, conquering as far as the ruins of Ulanbaatar and gaining hundreds of miles of land north of the newly annexed Dongbu regions
  • Koreans: The border and central tribes invade the Daevite east with the confederation nearing collapse
  • Kambo-Gandhar: They pillage and enslave many of the western Daevite confederation regions
  • Daevite Confederation: Several thousands flock away from the confederation and join W. Daevite tribes or Tungusics
  • Arashena: A coup is staged, where the king loyal to Aegea is murdered, and his brother who had been aided by the Seleucids was crowned king. Arashena becomes a Seleucid Vassal. A force of 6 000 troops march south claiming lots of unprotected Aegean lands in the Northeast down to the Van lake
  • Seleucids: They put up together a new army of 45 000, and invade the surroundings of Nineveh and Assur, encircling the two cities in a massive blockade. The two cities swiftly fall and the 34 000 strong army is marching towards Adol where they were once defeated before, now with them tens of Siege machines
  • Latins, Esceocians, Proto-Balts, Dacians & Slavokans: Many raids are made into Vedena further annexing and enslaving the nearly defenseless towns
  • Sambia: The tribe fractures into several smaller ones and is lost from history
  • Vesnians: the massive Dizilyan and Latin cultural pressure begins to affect the Vesnian tribes, deleting some of their cultural traits
  • Latins: Northern tribes pour into the Jutland island, annexing it into the Latins
  • Sparta: They collapse under the Roman invasion
  • Gauls: Several southern tribes decide to join Rome, but many northern tribes decide to unify under one banner and fight the Romans, only preparing for a possible war at the moment
  • Valencia(To Rome): We see the massive conflict in the east, we wish to aid you in it, we are prepared to send 10 000 soldiers to help you on any front, our navy shall also join the assault in exchange for Aegean naval technology
  • Tistu: Their relations with the Yin begin to deteriorate rapidly, many fear a possible war soon
  • Yin: They expand, cutting Tistu off from central Europe
  • Scythia: They continue their warpath in Bactria, by going around Kandahar and capturing Pandalena and continuing to grab Bactrian western lands
  • Bactria: With the main southern army of Scythia in the east, they recapture Herat, Furthest and massive swathes of land towards Hecatompylus. The Bactrians are able to defeat the flanking manouver of the Scythians, but propose a deal where the Scythians may settle into the southern lands if they agree to become a vassal
  • Saka: The kingdom of Saka is established in South Bactria under the watchful eyes of the Indo-Greeks
  • Gerrha: They annex several border Adnanite tribes and think of the possibility of invading the southern kingdoms
  • Roman-Hellenic War: Argos, Thebes and Corinth fall to the Romans, and Athens is almost taken, but the Aegens are able to hold just and just to it. The Roman Blockade succeeds with the newly stripped tech from the Aegeans, leaving Athens surrounded. The Aegeans lose their holdings in the Balkans, but are able to stop the Roman assault on Troy and Ipsus. Tarsus however falls to the Romans. Rome (-18 000 men) Aegea (-31 000 men)

He says that this is the only way to defend themselves from 'an ever-increasing threat'. Their navy had also being built at an ever-increasing shipbuilding rate in order to slow down a possible blockade. Usually their navy is relaxed but a Roman threat means they would need to respond to something immediately

    • (continued, lets hurry this along) Roman-Hellenic Conflicts (since 137 BC): Seeing success in Greece, Roman Legions in Tarsus pushed westward into (OTL) Syria in 95 BC to reach the city of Adol before the Seleucid Empire by 80 BC. Meanwhile the Romans had gathered enough legions to push for Athens after taking heavy losses (only to be replenished by local auxiliaries from populace and newblood legions) taking the city in 90 BC. By 88 BC, the replenished Roman numbers invaded all the cities in coastal Anatolia (including Crete and Cyprus) in 85 BC in order to bring a more swift end to the Roman-Hellenic conflicts (which had been going on for around for roughly ridiculously long 60 years), then to invade inland in 80 BC to kill off any resistance.
    • Conquest of Escoesia (90 BC to 85 BC): Since the Roman-Hellenic conflicts had exhausted naval transportation over the past 60 years (despite improvement), the Romans marched 4 legions in Italy to conquer Escosia/Escoesia swiftly in order connect lands (the thing is just sitting there for the most part anyways).
  • Diplomacy:

Turn XXXV: 75-50 BCE []

Events & Great People:[]

  • The Gladitorial War & Spartacus: A Roman slave by the name of Spartacus escapes during a battle in Aegea, and recruits thousands of slaves and low class members of society to overthrow the Roman courts. He amassed a force of 40 000 men, and ravaged the eastern coast and south of Italy. Spartacus, a great leader with a charm that inspired thousands dies in a crucial battle during the invasion of Arretium, where he and his army are dealt a fatal blow, crushing the rebellion. 4 000 are crucified in east Italy for being an enemy of Rome
  • Posidonius: The Aegen philosopher writes several texts of the Gauls, during his visit of Northwest Rome. The Aegean philosopher writes most of the few texts about the Gauls
  • Lucretius: The Roman poet writes the "On the Nature of the Universe". According to Lucretius's frequent statements in his poem, the main purpose of the work was to free all of mankind's mind of superstition and the fear of death

NPC Turns:[]

  • Yang: They conquer more of the Daevite confederation, gaining their entire border with the Kambo-Gandhar, who hold a crucial part of the Silk road. The tribes of Kambo-Gandhar are invaded in one of the worst massacres in history to this point, where over 60% of the 500 000 people are slaughtered and the rest, being women and children annexed to the Yang Dynasty
  • Daevite Confederation: They collapse under the invasions. They become mostly Daevite tribes, but some border tribes become Korean and Tungusic
  • Satavahana: They annex more Dravidian tribes in an attempt to become more powerful than Goriwala
  • Goriwala: They conspire with Au Lac, the demise of Siam. Goriwala attacks west Siam in a chain of fierce attacks claiming swathes of land and thousands of fresh soldiers claiming more fresh land and staying to occupy, and repeat. They annex Bangkok and the whole west of Siam and make peace
  • Au Lac: They agree with Goriwala to destroy Siam. They invade again, Capturing Krong but stumbling in Pattaya, leaving a sliver of Siam to survive with a massive army.
  • Kioku: They conquer the whole western Naruto island and swiftly move onto Naruto, capturing it. Genocide is commited with the wiping of the Jomon populations and assimilation of them into the Ainu cultures. But the centuries awaited unification was not to last, as three years later the Kioku collapses to 7 different nations, all lead by power hungry Shoguns. Kioku, Naruto, Hatshushima, Okayama, Kagomoto, Yatomi and Uwajima
  • Parthia: Roman-Hellenic Wars had prevented such Empire to rise, but it was time. The New Empire arose around the Central Asian regions with aims to conquer and replace the Seleucid Empire, already taking much of their territory around the first decade.
  • Valencia: Intimidated by Roman might from the recent war, they agreed to autonomous status in exchange for participation and gain in future wars, so long as they have a say in government. Eventhough many resented the idea, as only a few decades ago they'd left the vassal position held over them by the Atlasioi, but now they'd be under even heavier governance that wasn't truly their own. Instability began brewing in the region
  • Uputhara Wansura(To Muscat): Thank you. have some fine delicacies of the east
  • Monahtanuk(To Natick): We want to stay sovereign, but an alliance is still a worthwhile endeavour, let us become even better friends(You can't annex them since you're both equally strong)
  • Berbers(To Agousta): Nope, we own this land, not you

Egypt[]

  • Government
    • Ptolemy VIII (83 BC-present)
    • 40,000 phalanxes
    • 30,000 other soldiers
  • Economy: The Nile is used for trading locally, while outside domestic affairs, the Mediterranean Sea is used instead. Coins are also minted in Egypt.
  • Demographics: Still keeping this up.
    • Population: 5,200,000
      • Alexandria (Capital): 320,000
      • Memphis: 240,000
      • Heliopolis: 150,000
      • Abydos: 90,000

      • Gaza: 59,000
      • Jerusalem: 130,000
      • Tyre: 69,000
      • Damascus: 100,000
      • Byblos (this city is slightly above Tyre I think): 75,000
      • Ptolemais in Cyrene (formerly Yhwh/Yahweh): 35,000
      • Cyrene (formerly Siarcuan): 50,000
      • Valeria (formerly Valyros): 60,000
      • Other cities: 790,000
    • Ethnicity: An assimilation trial initiated by the previous Ptolemaic kings is underway to create a group of Hellenised Egyptians by exposing some of the native children to other non-Egyptian material by their tutors (usually Greek), thus making it easier for them to gain manpower for the elite and reduce tensions in a hypothetical scenario. This would also be a tedious trial as well.
      • 78% Egyptian, 5% Aegyptian (Hellenised Egyptians), 2% Jewish, 3% Hellenic, 12% other
    • Religion:
      • 78% Egyptian paganism, 8% Hellenism, 2% Judaism, 12% other
    • Literacy rate: 14%
  • Events:
    • Building up defences: Same last turn.
    • Depopulation of urban areas: A new population trend had began to affect Egypt itself. More people are turning to rural areas with many minor cities were shrunk to large towns or even abandoned. Ptolemy VIII said that he didn't care how Egypt would be affected by this, saying that farming yields will increase and "prosperity" will be achieved.

    • Economy: Based around fishing, some agriculture and trading mostly. With the spices (maybe?) from the east we become rich by selling them to nearby peoples. Trading with Uputhara Wansura is a large and essential part of the economy.
    • Capital: Muscat
    • Demographics:
      • Population:
      • Muscat: 4671
      • Rural areas (AKA everything else): ~15,105

      • Army Equipment: It is improved to be able to withstand the hot climate better and for longer times.

      • Hatchetmen: 200
      • Bowmen: 484
      • City Guards: 88
      • Dromedary Forces: 20
    • Navy:
      • 82 transport ships (can hold around 8-12 men)

      • Although not part of the navy we have 134 fishing ships.
    • Diplomacy:
      • Adnanites: We keep selling spices and other gracious items from the east to Adnanite tribes to befriend them and eventually assimilate them.
      • Parthia: We offer to sell our spices to them.
      • Aynarab, Rhabi, Qata and Suraban: We offer a defensive pact and non-aggression pact between all of us as we may be caught in the crossfire with the large war in the north.
    • Events:
      • Developed Script: Our script develops more.
      • Richness of the Sultan: After all the selling and trading and becoming quite a rich nation, the Sultan is now an incredibly rich person, having jewelry and other expensive things in the royal areas and on his clothing.
      • Palace of Muscat: A grand palace is built in Muscat, where the Sultan lives.
      • Exploration: More naval exploration occurs, discovering more of Uputhara Wansura's coast, giving larger oppurtunities for trade, although not much more of the coast due to the distance and shortages of food and other supplies. Other areas discovered include more of the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, small parts of the Horn of Africa and the islands of the Socotra Archipelago, which the explorers later consider to be colonized, but not yet due to the distance and the difficulty of supporting such a colony.

Roman Republic []

  • Government:

    • Consuls:

      • (64) Leonidas Lucidius (76 BC to 70 BC)

      • (65) Gaius Helos (70 BC to 58 BC)

      • (66) Julius Caesar (58 BC to present)

  • Policies:
  • Senate Split!: By 50 BC, corruption and exploitation of newer territories, along with controversial bills had been running rampant through the senate within the last decades. This gave rise to Julius Caesar, a populist military leader who ran for Consul, to promise change. This had angered the more conservative faction, who aligned itself with Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus for 48 BC election after Julius Caesar won the 50 BC election after fears of the Republic's unity waning but has since been stifled through the Gaulish and Greek conquests.

  • Join Rome, live Roman!: A new policy/doctrine is introduced where outside states can request or be requested to join the Empire.

  • Military: There is approximately 20 legions, each contains 5000 to 6000 legionaries each further divided into cohorts with 500 to 600 men each. There are about 8 auxiliary legions as well (3,000 each) also containing equipment like archers and artillery. The Roman Legions recieved a complete restructure after the start of the  Roman-Hellenic conflicts to solve and improve the Legions on flexibility and adaptability along with equipment.

    • 100,000 Legionaries

    • 24,000 Auxiliaries

  • Economy: Gold and silver coins are minted around the Republic, with a new coin minted for every new Consul.

  • Demographics

    • Population: +20,000,000

      • Rome (Capital): 150,000

      • Neapolis: 50,000

      • Caralis: 20,000

      • Atvasium: 100,000 (indirect)

      • Other cities: 5,180,000

      • Rural areas: 14,500,000

    • Ethnicity: Remaining latins in the region are exceptionally rare over the past centuries and were held in high regard within the tribal population, sometimes ruling as the regional nobility class. Latin language in the region itself is extinct but names and ethnicity still lives on in pockets. Explanation for nobility is that Latins were employed in elite units that were held in high regard and retired veterans commonly built a nobility status. They were absorbed into the Roman identity, but they make up a lot of the ruling class since their overthrow of the monarchy.

      • 40% Roman, 30% Greek, 20% Atlasii, 10% other.

    • Religion: 60% Cult of Romulus, 40% Other

  • Events

    • (continued, lets hurry this along) Roman-Hellenic Conflicts (since 137 BC): Seeing success in Greece, Roman Legions finishes off Aegea once and for all. Facing them in a final battle for control of the central Hellenic world.

    • Caesar's Conquest of Gaul and Celatin: In 59 AD, Julius Caesar led a conquest of Gaul and Celatin, facing serious opposition forces but managed to conquer both regions with several legions under his belt by 50 AD.

  • Diplomacy:

  • Gaul: Under Julius Caesar's conquests, we annex all your lands with the help of allied tribes.

    • Celatin: Same for you.

    • Vedena: Of course we shall help. We will send 2 expeditionary Legions to help maintain order in your city. But we request that you should also settle within the lands of Illyrics and Gerios if you want to be a part of the glorious Empire.

    • Agostos: We request that you should join as part of an autonomous province of the Empire. You shall be provided with 2 starting local legions and are able to participate/benefit in future conquests. Join Rome, Live Roman! (I ask because Rome is supposed to conquer you irl by this time but I would like to pursue a more quick/peaceful option first to save headaches)

      • Events:
        • Expansion: Expansions are stopped for now.
      • Diplomacy:
      • Roman Empire: Oleg have decided to ask to join the Roman empire as an autonomous province. As we see that we clearly wouldn't be able to protect ourself just as the escosian nation in case they would attack which feels very likely.

Turn XXXVI: 50-25 BCE[]

Events & Great People:[]

  • Cicero: The great Roman philosopher, orator, linguist and translator dies, leaving behind him massive change. His influence on the Latin language was so immense that the subsequent history of prose in not only Latin but European languages would be affected forever by his works.
  • Vercingetorix: The Gallic leader who united the Gallic tribes into a massive war against the Romans. The tribes were disunited, warring between each others, but Vercingetorix was able to unite the tribes to fight the incoming threat of Roman subjugation. He is finally killed by Rome after the second attempt to retake Nimer by the Gauls

NPC Turns:[]

  • Yang: Due to the high cost of updating the massive infrastructure all around the grand nation, Hainan is abandoned, leaving it for Au Lac. Expansion is halted and asserting dominance in all the conquered regions continues
  • Gauls: The Gallic tribes attempt a last invasion, led by Vercingetorix. The horde of 19 000 perish finally at Nimer where the first invasion failed as well, with the best fighters dead in Occitia, the resistance is scarce, but still many young men rise up to fight the Romans, but two years after occupation the futility of such an act becomes common knowledge as many are made examples of. Gallia is annexed
  • Celatins: They fall as well, failing to create united front against the Romans
  • The Vedenan Legions: The 2 Roman legions sent to Vedena suffer great losses in Esceocia, being ambushed at night and murdered when sloppy on watch. The Legions burnt down several villages on their way, attracting even more hatred towards them. When they reached Vedena, the critical situation in the nation was dire, and the 3 500 legionaries left wouldn't be of much help against the tens of thousands men awaiting behind the walls of Lutsk and the plains beyond. Was this voyage worth the sacrifice?
  • Latins, Esceocians, Proto-Balts: They capture more Vedenan land, including Pripyat, leaving only the city of Lutsk under the Vedenan government and the last villages that weren't burnt yet. A massive Latin invasion followed the Roman legions, 7 000 men swarmed the city of Lutsk, and burnt the western side of the city, eventhough of the fortifications made by the Vedenans. Their assault is eventually beaten back by the Roman and Vedenan defenders, fatally exhausted
  • Malacca: They conquer the last hold of Siam
  • Satavahana: With the Goriwalans taking Siam, they invade the last Dravidians and annex them, then heading to Uputhara Wansura, vassalizing it.
  • Scythia: The Seleucid loyal king is assassinated by his general who takes his place, ending the vassalization of Scythia
  • Parthia: They conquer more of the seleucid lands, capturing Kathe, Susa and tons of land in the mountains
  • Tistu: They invade Yin after decades of hostile politics, gaining their western lands and remaking the infrastructure to be more like Tistuan infrastructure
  • Yin: With the war against Tistu, they invade North Tistu quickly claiming Mariuvoq but are put to a stalemate with Tistu, thousands die until peace is made and the prince and princess of Tistu and Yin are married to ease relations
  • Aegea: The greatest empire the world had ever seen, was beaten by the Romans, adopting the place of Aegea and the Hellenics, and some of their culture. Tens of thousands flee to Bactria and Aegypt

Even though there is no direct access to the coast or a big river, we still have started constructing our own trade navy and using it on Black and Mediterranean seas to trade with other provinces and civilised countries like Tistu or Arashena. Now we have 80 little trade vessels.
  • Diplomacy: -
  • Events:
    • New Lutsk: During last 10 years, we were building a new capital city - Lutsk, which is placed in the centre of all our controlled territories. It means the restoration of our nation and the beginning of the new era.
    • Expansion to the north: We started expanding on all sides, but mostly to the northern lands.
  • Features of Vedena:
    • New era: We were suffering for a long time and now it seems that everything is pretty quiet. We are under Roman protection, but also we have to support them. We are in completely different place, so we must adapt to the new circumstances. In addition, we don't have to rival Illyrics and Gerios people. In our new country, everyone is equal and have same possibilities. Instead of fighting, we live and work together.  Such values like freedom and liberty are pretty much respected. One day we will return to our old places and rebuild previous Lutsk!

Roman Republic [1](Former) | Roman Empire (new)[]

  • Government:

  • Consuls:
  • (66) Julius Caesar (58 BC to? 44 BC) (Disputed with Pompey)
  • (67) Pompeius Magnus (48 to 45 BC) (Disputed with Caesar)
  • (1, Emperor) Augustus Octavian (27 BC to present)
  • Policies:
  • Fall of the Republic, rise of the Empire: After conflicts with Caesar, whom declared himself dictator in 49 BC to make things easier to manage due to wars, some parts of the senate decided to elect Pompeius Magnus. However, Caesar does not recognize this as he was in the Rhine at the time. Marching back to Italy, he crossed the Rubicon and marched into Rome. Pompey promised to uphold the Republic, fearing Caesar would tear down its institutions, and led a campaign against Caesar. Caesar lost his life after assassinations despite winning the brief civil war. But his adopted son Octavian arose with a triumvirate before falling into a civil war yet again. After winning, he declared the Roman Republic an Empire and made himself Emperor in 27 BC.

The Roman Legions recieved a complete restructure after the start of the  Roman-Hellenic conflicts to solve and improve the Legions on flexibility and adaptability along with equipment. • Vitruvius: The Roman writer, architect and engineer finishes writing De Architectura (known today as The Ten Books of Architecture), a treatise in Latin on architecture, and perhaps the first work about this discipline.
  • Comet Halley: It makes an appearance in 12 BC.

NPC Turns:[]

  • Yang: They construct a big portion of the Great wall of Yang to keep the Daevites away from the grand empires lands. With the reinvigorated strength of the empire, enhanced infrastructure and new taxation they reconquer the Hainan island. With the majority of the east conquered, and the conquest of the west portraying itself as suicide, the cost of sending and maintaining an army for invading Bactria, Goriwala or Au Lac seemed too wasteful. But to the emperors delight, there were two more nations in the east, Xia and Gojoseon. Xia had proven itself to be too risky to invade with the island fortified exactly for a Yang invasion, but Gojoseon was weaker and had a land border with Yang. 27 000 men were sent to retake Hsiking, which had been lost centuries ago, and the province of Beijing was tasked to annex and clear a way for a larger army to pass through tribal Korean and Daevite lands. Beijing wasn't cooperative, but after the emperor threatened the army would first stop at Beijing the governor decided to annex the tribes. Hsiking fell in a matter of months as the Gojoseon army wasn't prepared for a fight of such magnitude. Emperor Xie led the northern assault himself with 47 000 men raining down on the Gojoseonese defenders. Songnim was reached when Autumn came and the Emperor presented the king of Gojoseon a deal. Be vassalized or be destroyed. A deal was also sent to Xia, "Become a protectorate of the Yang empire, and let the hostilities cease, and trade flourish"
  • Xia: They become a vassal of Yang
  • Gerrha: Agitated by the establishment of Ibri, they amass an army at the border of Muscat and demand the city for themselves
  • Rhabi(To Muscat): We shall join your alliance with gratefulness
  • Qata, Suraban(To Muscat): We shan't join your alliance, we don't see it as beneficial to us, but trade would be nice
  • Satavahana(To Muscat): As long as you trade with us too
  • Abenaki: They lose many southern tribes and fail to fully unify against the invasion, but many flee up north, leaving the Abenaki bitter towards the Natick, massacring all traders and some border villages
  • Ainu: The tribes are extremely hostile towards the colonizing Gojoseonese and within a year they kill all the colonists

    • Wars and Conflicts (italics: Potential War):
      • War Against Gerrha (and probably Seleucid and Arashena as well)
      • Conscription: We will probably be going to war, so we conscript more people and prepare our armies, which are all sent to the border.
      • Warships: Galley-like ships are created to be used for the war, however since we are a little late with creating a navy and the ships being created a little rapidly, they are not as strong as they could be, but not weak either.
    • Military: Total of
      • Spearmen: 400
      • Hatchetmen: 235
      • Bowmen: 495

      • Although not part of the navy we have 142 fishing ships.
    • Diplomacy:
      • Satavahana: Of course, we shall establish trade with you ASAP.
      • Gerrha: We shall not adhere to your foolish demands!
      • Qata and Suraban: Sure, let's trade then!
      • Aynarab and Rhabi: Prepare your armies! The foolish Gerrhans have demanded our city of Ibri and we shall not allow it, we are going to need your help in this conflict.
      • Parthia: Your enemy is about to attack us, we could help you, which would benefit us both, do you accept us on your side? The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that.
    • Events:
      • Order: We suggest (in quite a serious manner, obviously) that most of Aynarab and Rhabi's armies be put on the border with Gerrha, with others defending their own realms or possibly be used for other tactics.
      • Colony of Socotra: We try to maintain it by having people go there with food and other supplies to make sure the settlements there survive.
      • Ideas of Arab Brotherhood: The Arab nations near us have been brought closer to friendship, ideas of a larger brotherhood and potential unifications spark in the minds of both philosophers and regular citizens within our realm.

  •  Events:
    • Naticko-Abenaki war: The Front existed as northern border until 21 BC. Then, Abenaki tribes united their powers and started massive attack of our soldiers. We lost 5 battles but we retreated to Bosotonuc to restore army. However, we lost the town to Abenaki and retreated to Wampanoag again! Some men were taken to our army again and in 14 BC the enemy started the Siege of our capital. New reinforcements from Pomeiock arrived to surroundings of Capital and raided the enemy. Then, the armies were combined and it started driving Abenaki soldiers out of our lands. When we regained our newly-conquered territories, they asked us to stop the war.
